Okay guys, I got two for you this time.

Sunday, August 13, 2006

"Mom and Dad,
First things first. Thanks for the addresses. And me and Nat...well that is a very long story. But what it boils down to... I like her, she likes me. And yes, I have some buddies here. Alison, Dustin Seabolt, and a few others. Dustin is the kid I told you about before I left, so you will be able to see who I'll be with in A School when you come up. Which brings up me next subject. Graduation. You should have gotten the info by now so, September 9th 2 pm Wicked sounds amazing. And Dustin would like to tag along so if you could get an extra ticket, I'll make sure he pays you back. And go for Mezzanine, if the ticket prices are around $40-ish. And Liberty ends (back in our compartments) at 9 so Blue Man Group is out. One day Dustin and I want to go to Girordannos and Lakeshore Drive. Where the Apple Store is and a bunch of other great places. Other than that O don't know what we want to do. And I need you to reorder at least one pair of contact for me. I don't want to wear these glasses at graduation
(he traced his glasses on the page. They look like those really big plastic frames) And then when you get them in mail them straight away I have to have them by the 8th. Also please bring dad's laptop, my cellphone, my camera, contact stuff, my electric toothbrush. And I think thats about it. If I think of anything else I'll let you know. It sounds like our house has become a party zone. I wish I was there. poo. : ( And as of today, I've recieved a letter from Hunter and Grandma/Grandpa V.W., Nathan is prob waiting till he gets to Iowa for some reason. Matt, Nat, Meg, Ryon, Brandon, Dani B, and everyone else I'm still waiting on. I don't need to borrow dad's iPod. And thats funny that Scottie and Mr Lee put those pictures together. I made a DVD for Barry of all that, with music too. When I get back, I want to get a Jetta GLI, the model before mom's. Fuel effiency and coolness all in one. Its been cool here, like 70 degrees for like 2 weeks now, its great. Navy Fed is a great Vredit Union and they told us that the info you got is just for online stuff, so keep it safe. More pictures are always good, Birdie looks good. Pearle is fat as ever. Well, I have more letters to write and boots to polish.

26 more days . . .

Love,
Chadley"

What he means by send pictures is to print pictures out on paper so that he can throw them away.

"So Iowa sounds like it was fun. I'm not going to comment much more than that. I'm going to go into this letter that dad sent me, and Conny, I'm still waiting for my comics. First off, I'm doing great, I got a 5.0 on Test 1 (of 3) which is a perfect score, only 2 other people got a 5.0. Not even the Education Pety Officer got a 5.0, he missed 2 questions. I miss everyone, and Ryon is spelled with an 'o' (Dad had spelled it with an 'a' - Sorry Ryon). And on my inspection, I got a 3, a 5, a 3, and plus Test 1 which brings my average to a 4 for Phase 1 of Boot Camp. Phase 2 started Wed. Next week Monday is our Personal and locker/bunk inspection we also have a drill inspection comming up and a compatment inspection. i really don't miss the long hair, facial hair, clothes, room, ot Moutain Dew. I do miss my Bible, and contacts tho, and my eletric razor and my cell phone. We don't march anymore the Galley is right down the hall now, we do randomly have to march down to the other side of the Base for things like uniforms, and stuff. food is great, they actually cook it right before we arrive, not like the night before and just warm it up. To think that on this base they serve over 10,000 people 3 hot meals a day with very good efficency. Crazy. And its all run by Goodwill. Yeserday it only got up to like 80, but a few days beforeit was 107 outside. My fellow recruits can't listen. Some one tells everyone to be quiet then it gets quiet for a few seconds then gets louder and louder, and we have one kid who has a problem wih being told what to do by fellow recruits. But most others are great, they listen and are fun to talk to and be around. This compartment is spotless. Always my job to clean the TU because I can reach it, but we even set down on our hands and knees and polish the deck (floor) racks are always clean and made perfectly. FTT (The Flaet Training Team, the inspectors) can pop into our compartment and give us a hit, which lowers our divisional score, anytime we are out of our house. At times its fun, mostly boring. Standing in line cleaning, ironing all boring. I learned not much this week. Small Arms is next week, we PT everyday, we don't set into that bare hands stuff, and its prob'ly more like 2500 to 3000 calories in 12-15 mins. Sailing is this week, sinking comes later. I can swim, I am now a 3rd class swimmer, and we had to do a 5 min prone 'dead mans' float, face down, that was fun. Highlights of the week: called home for 5 mins, got a letter from Latasha, heard that yall and Nathan got my letters, didn't get any cartoons tho. I don't get yelled at, other people do. I train with my brain, not pain. Physical Punishment is called IT. And we did a few pushups on asphalt last night because people can't march, but thats been all, and the only other IT's have been divisional, not individual. OH! I did have our Group Cammander, Lietienat Pozey yell at me because I didn't open the door. I'm still waiting for yall to send me a smaller Bible (which was sent off on Saturday) But I read a chapter of Sons of Soloman which spurned several conversations about God (imagine, he can minister to others right there in Boot Camp!!) And if I 5.0 the other 2 tests, I can get a E-2 paygrade. And suposedly, test1 is the hardest. I finished all 50 questions in like 15 mins. Very easy. And its 5 weeks from last Friday till graduation. Something like 32 days or whatnot. Now some info. I will have Friday after graduation from like 10 to whenever they want me back for liberty, Saturday, Sunday, and MOST of Monday. I'm not 100% sure about Monday, its our 8-1 day and our last day of training, most of us will oll out tuesday for 'A' School. So plan accordingly. You should be getting grad packet soon too. Well, I'm going to write Nathan then shower.
Till Next Week . . .

Love,
Chadley"

This one was adressed to Nathan on Sunday, July 30, 2006

"Nathan,
the only reason I'm writing you is because I saaw your address on my security questionare and remembered. I reakky hope you can read all my writing
(which I can't). Please et my address around (see below), and tell everyone to write everyday. There is nothing like getting mail. Mail is life. Life here is not bad, we get up somewhere around 0600 and get to bed around 2200. 3 great meals a day, not so much yelling anymore, we graduate on SEPTEMBER 8th, mark that on your calender. I know there was talk of people driving up here for graduation, so that's that, for Liberty weekend (day of and day after graduation) I can go 50 miles off Base, 80 I hope A) wicked is still on its Chicago run and B) the Oriental Theater is within that radius and C) Blue Man group isn't sold out. I've changed alot I can make two racks (beds) in 10 mins and fold 1 towel, 3 shirts, and 3 skivies to perfection in 10 mins, run a mile and a half in 12 mins do 32 pushups and 48 situps, and my boots look awesome. I can iron like a mad man. We iron everything around here, down to the towels and skivvies. I got my military ID its awesome its got a SIM card on it, 3D barcode, magnetic strip, 2-D barcode. I've been vleared for Top Secrect (look out, he's got a big head now!! : D), which is just about the highest rating you can ever achieve. The first few days were the worst. P-Days they are called. P for Processing. Its a bunch of standing around heel to toe and staring at the same page of information that we are to be studying or staring silently forward. But P-days were the worst now that we are about to start 2-1 day (week 2 - day 1) things are pretty easy. One of our petty officers, named Hockman, we al thought was horrible, always yelling to do this and that. But once 1-1 day came around the yelling had died down and then last night we sat around with im and he answered our questions foran hour. It was great. We have the best division (# 293 HOOYAH!) and RDC's (Recruit Division Command). We have an inspection tomorrow. I'm going to pass easy (you all ask if he erally did!) Make sure Nat got my message (if any of you read this, and see Nat, ask her for me, please) and that if anything else comes from a funky 874 or something area code, its probably me. And don't fear that the letters I send maybe be vague, I'm keeping a journal, and I might type it up and let yall see it someday. Your prayers are most welcome and desired. Strength, obediance to God, will power, and the like. Pass this letter around for all to see. I have more letters to write and stuff to iron . . .

Chadley"
